Angela Poliquin is a dedicated and highly experienced criminal defense attorney based in Arizona, known for her unwavering commitment to justice and his clients. Angela Poliquin is the incoming president of Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice, Arizona’s branch of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for the 2024 term. AACJ President is an honor bestowed on only the most talented criminal defense attorneys and leaders. She is happy to be following in Craig Rosenstein’s footsteps, who is a past president of AACJ.
Angela is a graduate of Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona College of Law. She received honors for her writing and was a writing fellow her second year of law school. She contributed a casenote to the Arizona Law Review, Kromko v. City of Tucson: Government Use of Public Funds to Influence the Outcomes of Elections.
Post-JD, Angela won the Vine Deloria Post-Graduate Fellowship and earned an LLM in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy. Her writing was included in the coursebook, Cases and Materials on Federal Indian Law, 5th Edition, which analyzed comity versus full faith and credit as it applies in Indian Country. She also wrote a part of a human rights petition for the Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group, a union of First Nations in Canada. Her research was acknowledged in Rob William’s book, Like a Loaded Weapon: The Rehniquist Court, Indian Rights and the Legal History of Racism in America.
Angela has been practicing criminal law since 2006, channeling her passion for the underdog into fearless and clever trial work. She passionately represents indigent clients in misdemeanor, felony, and
serious felony trials, and obtains more than her fair share of acquittals. In 2012, Angela transitioned her practice to invest her writing skills in post-conviction relief and appeals. She is experienced with all levels of post-conviction, from direct appeal to habeas corpus.
She is licensed to practice law in Arizona, Arizona Federal District Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In her spare time, Angela is a connoisseur of great horror movies and a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. She also enjoys hiking and camping with her family.
